DuPage West Nile cases now at 19 for the year

WHEATON - DuPage County health officials say there are now 19 confirmed human cases of West Nile virus in the county, including two fatal infections, with victims ranging in age fromtheor 20s through their 70s.
Human cases have been confirmed located in Addison, Bloomingdale, Carol Stream, Downers Grove, Elmhurst, Hinsdale, Lisle, Lombard, Naperville, Villa Park and Westmont, a release from the DuPage County Health department said.
The virus is transmitted to people by infected mosquitoes, and officials are warning residents it remains widespread and may remain so until the arrival of cooler temperatures.
The Illinois Department of Public Health reports 104 confirmed human cases of West Nile in Illinois in 2012, including three deaths. The infected have ranged in age from 9 to 82.
