IHSA looking into complaints about Hinsdale Central baseball team

HINSDALE — Marty Hickman, IHSA executive director, confirmed to the Doings Wednesday that he has received a report from Hinsdale Central regarding allegations of possible rules violations by its baseball team this past season.

The report was filed earlier this month by first-year Hinsdale Central athletic director Dan Jones, who reacted to a complaint from a parent.

“I will be meeting with Dan Jones next week to discuss and review the situation,” Hickman said via e-mail.

Jones filed the report with the IHSA. Among the parent’s complaints, the most serious allegation is the possible use of an ineligible player.

“I have been in touch with their office (at the IHSA),” Jones said.

Hickman did not say how long it would take for him to make a ruling after meeting with Jones.

The Red Devils (12-22, 4-14 WSC Silver) are 27-44 in Justin Cronin’s two years as head varsity coach. Cronin succeeded longtime coach Tom Dorrance, who is currently the defensive coordinator for Hinsdale Central’s football team.

Cronin could not be reached for a comment.
