OAK PARK — A new TV commercial from the Postal Service, which began airing on network and cable programs last weekend was filmed late last month in Oak Park. The commercial features Oak Park South Station Customer Service Supervisor, Yolanda Rader behind the wheel postal vehicle.
This was Rader’s first theatrical experience.
“It was wonderful” Rader said, according to a Postal Service news release.
“I had never seen all the behind-the-scenes work,” she added. “All my co-workers are telling me, ‘YOu’re a star now!’”
A second commercial filmed that week is reminding people that when that holiday gift doesn’t fit, doesn’t work and/or is a duplicate — like the sweater featured in the spot — USPS offers stress-free returns. The commercial highlights using Priority Mail Flat Rate Boxes, online postage and payment and free Package Pickup. It features a Chicago Postal Supervisor and local actor, Tory O. Davis. The commercial begins running on network and cable programs this week.
Davis is a Screen Actors Guild member and has appeared in several other commercials as well as in films and TV shows. His local theater credits include “Magnolia” at The Goodman Theater.
“It was such an honor to represent all my fellow postal employees and helps tell the story about the great service we provide our customers,” Davis said, according to the release, “and it was also such a fun acting opportunity.”
