Arraignment in Libertyville prostitution case postponed

The lack of an interpreter delayed a massage parlor employee’s arraignment Wednesday on prostitution charges.
Hong Yang, 41, of Chicago, one of two Libertyville massage parlor employees recently charged with prostitution, was to be arraigned, but her attorney, Arthur Porto, told Lake County Circuit Court Associate Judge Joseph Waldeck that Yang spoke limited English and requested a Mandarin interpreter be made available.
Waldeck ordered an interpreter and rescheduled Yang’s arraignment for Feb. 25.
Yang was arrested Jan. 8 following an investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office and Libertyville police.
On the day of her arrest, she allegedly offered to massage the genital area of an undercover detective from the Sheriff’s Office.
On Jan. 18, a second employee of the same massage parlor, the Dragon Spa, 402 Peterson Road, was arrested and also charged with prostitution.
Xiaohong Wu, 41, of Grayslake is due to be arraigned Feb. 15.
Lake County court records show Wu has been charged with prostitution before.
Her prior arrest was Jan. 23, 2012 when she was charged with felony prostitution due to being within 1,000 feet of a school, the Children’s House, at 223 W. Golf Road, Libertyville.
Wu’s case went to a bench trial in May 2012. Judge Christopher Stride acquitted her of the charges.
