No charges expected in car accident that killed Park Ridge pedestrian

PARK RIDGE — No tickets or criminal charges are expected against the driver of a vehicle that fatally struck a Park Ridge pedestrian on Jan. 16.
“At this point it does not appear there are going to be any citations issued based on the findings (of the Major Crash Unit),” said Park Ridge Deputy Police Chief Lou Jogmen.
Suzanne Palincsar, 51, was struck near the northeast corner of Busse Highway and Oakton Street at 8:20 p.m. She was pronounced dead soon after at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge.
Jogmen said a lack of independent witnesses to the accident has made it difficult for investigators to determine what exactly occurred.
The Major Crash Unit was expected to formally wrap up its investigation this week. The driver of the vehicle, who according to police stayed at the scene after the accident, has not been identified.
Police are also waiting to wrap up an investigation into another serious accident that occurred Dec. 22 on the 300 block of West Cedar Street. No tickets or charges have been filed in this, case which left three people injured and involved a Jeep which struck a tree in the middle of the block at 3:20 a.m.
Jogmen said police have identified who was driving the vehicle and are awaiting test results, a legal inquiry and a response from the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office before determining if any charges will be filed.
Few details have been released about the accident. Though three people were hospitalized with multiple injuries, police provided the Park Ridge Herald-Advocate with a list of four occupants identified as a 19-year-old man and three 20-year-old men.
