LONG GROVE — Three people were hospitalized Wednesday morning after a head-on collision near Long Grove.

Officials reported that “driver error” caused the crash at about 7:30 a.m. near the intersection of Old McHenry Road and Hillcrest Drive in unincorporated Lake County.

Marc Small, battalion chief of the Long Grove Fire Protection District, said two vehicles were headed in opposite directions on Old McHenry, but one drifted into the other’s lane.

Firefighters reported that the victims were extricated from the wreckage, and three ambulances took them to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington.

None of the three suffered life-threatening injuries, Small said.
