A woman found wandering around Lyons last month has been charged with DUI in a crash that killed two passengers.
Lisa Elner was charged with two counts of failure to report an accident involving death, two counts of aggravated DUI involving death, possession of cocaine and numerous traffic charges, Lyons police said in a news release.
Judge Joan Margaret O’Brien ordered Elner held on $2 million bail Monday in Bridgeview, police said. Elner was free on bond, according to the Cook County Sheriff’s office.
Elner is accused of driving a vehicle that crashed, killing two passengers inside.
Lyons police Cmdr. Brian Kuratko said police found Elner wandering around Lyons about 7 a.m. Jan. 26, but she never mentioned she was involved in a crash.
About five hours later, police found the crashed vehicle in the 5000 block of South Harlem Avenue with two bodies inside, authorities said.
Killed in the crash were Michelle Miranda, 37, and Sandra Frankum, 36, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.
