OAKBROOK TERRACE — The DuPage County Fire Investigation Task Force is handling the investigation of a fire that occurred in the early morning hours March 2 at a vacant house on the 1S500 block of Halsey Road.

The Oakbrook Terrace Fire Prevention District received a call about 1 a.m. March 2 of smoke in the area, said Ralph DeLuca Jr., assistant fire chief. Firefighters responded and found a two-story wood home on fire at 1S588 Halsey Road.

“The fire took about 2 1/2 hours to suppress,” DeLuca said. “The damage was easily the value of the residence; it was extensive.”

DeLuca said nobody was hurt in the fire. Determining the cause of the fire is part of the investigation.
