Western Springs police catch burglar in the act

WESTERN SPRINGS — A 15-year-old Melrose Park boy has been charged in a home burglary March 15 on the 1400 block of 39th Street.
Police responded to a report of a burglary in progress at a home that was unoccupied. After about 30 minutes the boy left the house, at the urging of police, and was arrested at 3:30 p.m.
The boy was charged with residential burglary and criminal damage to property.
Police determined the boy gained entry by kicking in a rear basement door, and various items the boy intended to steal were recovered inside the home.
