Childhood obesity is on the rise. According to a report by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, “the number of adolescents who are overweight has tripled since 1980 and the prevalence among younger children has more than doubled.” Although there are many contributing factors, poor eating habits and a sedentary lifestyle are most certainly at the top of the list. The folks at the Kraft Great Kids foundation and CLOCC (Consortium to Lower Obesity in Chicago Children) are well aware of this problem and are working together to reverse the trajectory. As a result a new message has been crafted to help kids and their parents make healthier choices. The message is easy to remember and a great way to help everyone stay on track. The message? 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 GO!
