LA GRANGE — Fans young and old lined the Lyons Township High School homecoming parade route from the north campus in La Grange to Bennett Field at the south campus in Western Springs, before Satuday’s football contests against York High School and a 49-21 varsity team victory.

Members of the Class of 1962 rode on a float as part of the celebration of their 50th reunion.

Students took a nostalgic look at the future portrayed through “The Jetsons” and other TV shows from the 1960s for the homecoming theme.

The Student Council voted this year to support Light for Children’s efforts to build a community education center in the Ashanti region of Ghana, West Africa.

The primary goal is to raise $12,000 necessary to open the community education center in 2013. However, the Student Council is hoping to raise a total of $50,000 throughout the year. Totals weren’t available yet from homecoming efforts.Anyone interested in donating to the cause or learning more about the fundraising effort should contact student activities director Peter Geddeis at (708) 579-7444 or at pgeddeis@lths.net.
