Train enthusiasts got a chance to see the Oak Park Society of Model Engineers’ HO model railroad club in action at the Model Railroad Open House on Nov. 5. The event was at the Dole Learning Center in Oak Park. Everyone, not just kids, got the chance to operate engines in one of the classification yards or on the “Kids and Friends” layout.

A special free demonstration by “The Tree Lady” Ingrid Drozdak taught participants how to make scale model trees, bushes, weeds and grass lawns.
